PAiN Issue 10/99

[Review by Seven] Ahaa! After five months of silence, PAiN is back with another new engine (for DOS & Windows), this time *with* working sound, plus proportional fonts (white or gray, no more blue), HTML-style layout and a slightly changed background. The new fading effects are annoying if you want to browse quickly: you've to wait for a few seconds before you can see the next article. Editors for the sixth generation are Fred and Unlock. There are many articles, ranging from 2-page rants over the P3 serial ID and the fake Gigabyte sizes of harddisks to long interviews with Ray/Unreal and Droid/Haujobb. There are reports on LTP3 and Dialogos'99, both with photos (About half the articles have images now). And in the "Scene Utopia" article, Fred dreams about a demoscene-only internet radio :) One word: Nectarine! And graphicians can learn the tricks of making hand-pixeled graphics in not one but two articles. There are international and swiss reviews, but they are taken from the Calodox Demo Exchange website. The resource database now shows the upcoming parties, in addition to the Swiss BBS list and the Swiss sceners list. The music is slow and a bit sad, it has a real autumn-feeling in it. The new engine also features a 3D-outro: the PAiN background floating over a dark sea, while a circling lensflare leaves a trail of particles shining around it.
