[Review by Seven] As promised, PAiN has a new engine! This one is in hi-res hi-color, unlike
the old textmode-with-a-redefined- charset engine. Unfortunately I can only get
it to run in pure DOS-mode, the music doesn't work and the module is packed in
a datafile, so WinAmp can't help either :( The graphics have improved: there's
a pretty high-res background with the pain-snowman, images can now be shown
inside the articles (instead of having to press a key to switch to a graphic
mode, as in the old engine), and the menu looks much better too. The layout of
the mag has changed: instead of a single list, the articles are now split in
related groups. The 5 categories are: Pain stuff, Swiss scene corner, Party
reports, Articles and Tech corner. The party corner is the most filled: 6
reports, several of Buenzli7, but also of Wired98 (My first party! Nostalgia
..) The Articles corner is rather empty: international news, the polls and an
overview of the USA scene. Note that the polls and charts have new ANSIs.
I'm glad to see some code-related articles again: a fade-effect and shaded
metaballs are explained.
