PAiN Issue 12/00

[Review by Seven] PAiN took a 7 month break because ASC resigned from the maineditorship without finding a replacement editor. But when Unlock got back from the army, he made this "tiny relaunch-issue". The Swiss news and reviews are dropped due to a lack of support, on the other hand there's a new record of 75 voters for the charts (the bright side of waiting so long between releasing issues :) ) There are some good articles in the last PAiN of the 20th century: Ghandy tells about how The Party influenced him in the old days, and he makes a mini-interview with Morph, one of the organisers, to see how they intend to fulfill their "back to the roots" promise. Gvr publishes his 28-page long list of funny IRC-quotes, in which the most re-occuring word seems to be "arse". You can learn the basics of X-windows programming in a tutorial, PS warns you not to travel by train at night, as his cellphone and money was stolen while he slept on the Brussels-Paris line, and a new trend is signalled: sites that let their users review demos, such as CDE or Pouet. Acumen has two short stories about dogs, which were the inspiration for the music used in the PAiN issue. The music is very good: there are two parts, the first is rather short but more powerful, the second is more relaxed. I didn't get bored with them while reading the entire mag, which is the most important quality for a diskmag tune IMHO. The 3D outro keeps the end-of-year spirit, showing a christmas tree with decorations and presents.
